School Meals


All our meals at Britannia Bridge are cooked in the school kitchen and children have a choice of menu, which is planned to Healthy School Standards.

School meals are served between 11.45 and 12.30 pm in the school hall. Dinner money is collected on a Friday morning, for the following week and should be given in at the office in an envelope clearly marked with THE CHILD’S NAME, CLASS, AMOUNT ENCLOSED. Children who choose to bring a packed lunch are supervised by the Welfare staff and are expected to display appropriate behaviour during their meal. Parents who are on low income can apply for free school meals for their children. Even if your child wants to have packed lunch, please apply as any child who it entitled to receive free school meals bring extra funding into school via the school budget.Children whose parents receive the following support payments are entitled to receive free school meals:


  • Income support
  • Income base jobseekers allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guaranteed element of pension credit.
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) that as of April 2010 does not exceed £16,190.
