Our curriculum is designed to be truly ‘For Each and Everyone. It is underpinned by our core H.E.A.R.T values of Happiness, Encouragement, Aspirations, Respect and Teamwork. We aim to ensure that all children will have every opportunity to be the best that they can be, and enjoy learning, in a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
The curriculum is all the planned activities that we as a school organise in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. English and Maths form the core and are taught throughout the morning, with skills being developed and enhanced through subjects taught during the afternoon. Britannia Bridge Primary School’s non-core subject curriculum is enhanced with progressive skills and knowledge that provides the opportunity for children to exceed the National Curriculum statutory requirements in these subjects.
In addition, our curriculum is enriched further with a range of extra-curricular activities that the school includes in order to enrich the experiences of our children. This includes trips out, visitors in, sports events, workshops, community and charity work, assemblies and a wide range of after-school clubs which are specifically designed to fill gaps in the children’s experiences.
It also includes the ‘hidden curriculum’, or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, able to make their own choices, who can work and co-operate with others, whilst developing knowledge, skills and attitudes to learning, in order that they achieve their true potential.
Please find below your child’s curriculum documents, along with a helpful parental curriculum guide. You can explore the whole curriculum by subject and year group; please see the document below if you wish to understand what each and every child will be learning in each subject across the school. If you would like any more information about your child’s curriculum please contact your child’s class teacher or Mr Donaldson.
